We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Crystal Riverston Deck in Riverston, Matale. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by one of the most polite, friendly, and professional teams we've ever experienced. The customer service here is truly exceptional — the staff are respectful, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile.
The rooms were very clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere perfect for a peaceful mountain getaway. Everything was well maintained and felt fresh and cozy throughout our stay.
The food deserves special mention — absolutely delicious! Every meal was full of flavor, fresh, and prepared with great care. Dining while enjoying the cool Riverston climate made it even more enjoyable.
The swimming pool was also very nice — clean, refreshing, and a perfect place to relax while surrounded by nature. One of the best parts of the stay was the breathtaking natural scenery, including beautiful views towards Manigala Mountain and the stunning Riverston landscape.
Also, for anyone worried after the recent Cyclone Ditwah situation — during our visit the area felt calm and welcoming again. The main access roads were functioning, and nearby attractions like Pitawala Patana and the Riverston transmission tower area were accessible. However, as this is a mountain region, it's always wise to check current weather and local travel updates before visiting.

In the beginning of January 2026 we spend 2 days at Crystal Riverston Deck. After travelling now for 5 weeks in Sri Lanka I must say that this hotel was surely one of the very best accommodation we had with an excellent price-performance ratio.
Everything did fit: the location, the room, the service & the food. We had a very spacy family room with a huge window allowing a stunning view at Mt. Maningala. The location of the hotel is carefully chosen. It gets sun all over the day which gives the pool an unexpected pleasant temperature.
Also the food is nice. Ask for Sri Lankan food like fish curry with string hoppers & dhal curry. You will like it.
On top - its a paradise for nature lovers. If you like birds & reptiles then this is your place. Just 10 minutes to Pitawala Pathana with its famous Mini Worlds End view. 20 minutes to the beautiful Sera Ella Waterfall. 20 minutes to the Riverston Transmission Tower wth great opertunities for hiking.
Special Nature Tip
If you have a special interest for reptiles then get in contact with Ajith - the very helpful manager of the hotel - and ask him for the local guide Nihal. He can show you snakes and the rare rhino lizard.
